Japanese Indigo Tie-dye Workshop

Japanese Indigo Tie-dye Workshop

2026-05-16
10:00

Get your hands blue, and discover the magic of indigo in this 3-hour Japanese Shibori workshop. Designed for beginners and the dye-curious, this hands-on class offers an engaging introduction to resist dyeing with natural indigo. Students will explore the cultural history of Shibori while learning foundational folding, binding, and resist techniques to create a one-of-a-kind indigo-dyed T-shirt. Participants will mix and test indigo, prepare their designs, and experience the unforgettable moment when fabric transforms from green to deep blue through dipping and oxidation. This workshop is both a complete creative experience and a perfect precursor to our Weekend Intensive, where students can continue their exploration of Shibori, tie-dye, and Batik techniques. No prior experience is required—just curiosity, creativity, and clothes you don’t mind getting a little blue. *Fee Includes kit

10:00

Extend the Life of Your Clothes is a 4-hour, hands-on regenerative textile workshop that invites participants to reimagine their relationship with clothing. Rather than discarding worn or forgotten garments, students will learn how to revamp, repair, recolor, and transform pieces they already own using dye baths, fabric printing equipment, and image transfer techniques designed for natural fabrics. Blending sustainability with creative expression, the workshop includes a focused lecture on the care and maintenance of natural fibers—such as cotton, linen, wool, and silk—alongside practical, repeatable textile techniques. Participants will experiment with color, texture, pattern, and imagery, leaving with refreshed, wearable garments and the confidence to extend the life of their clothing at home. No prior experience is necessary—just curiosity, a willingness to experiment, and a few well-loved garments ready for a second life. *Fee Includes kit

Create Your Own Fabric Yardage

Create Your Own Fabric Yardage

2026-06-20
10:00

Create Your Own Fabric Yardage is a hands-on surface design workshop that invites participants to design and produce their own one-of-a-kind textiles. In this creative, process-driven class, students will explore a range of surface design techniques—including block printing, hand-painting, and screen printing—to transform blank fabric into custom yardage. Participants will begin by building rich ground colors using our dye baths, then layer pattern and imagery through block printing, expressive hand-painting techniques, and overprinting with our preset screen designs. Emphasis is placed on experimentation, layering, and developing a personal visual language while learning techniques that are accessible and repeatable. For students who discover a love of screen printing, this workshop serves as an ideal precursor to our Weekend Screen Print Intensive, where techniques are explored in greater depth. Open to beginners and experienced makers alike, the class offers a supportive environment to play with color, pattern, and texture—leaving each participant with truly unique fabric and the confidence to continue designing at home. *Fee Includes kit
